The question of specific Blu-ray's helping PS3 sales (Obviously not Star Wars cause it wasn't released then) was relevant in 2006,07, hmmm maybe even in 08. It's just not relevant in 2011. Consumers who are interested in Star Wars Blu-ray most likely already bought a cheap Blu-ray player by now. So to answer your question....No, it won't..

Yes but this is Star Wars - the series with (arguably) the most die-hard fanbase. Who will go to extreme to get to experience the ultimate variant of the series. And if these fans would be purchasing the Blu Ray player at this point, I'm sure that they will be having a look at the PS3.

My thoughts were along the maybe lines. I think it could give a small (or very small) boost.

If Star Wars fans want the best Star Wars experience they wouldn't buy these Blu-rays, and if they did, they would watch them on a better Blu-ray player than the PS3.

according to cnet.com the PS3 is the 3nd best blu-ray player out their, only recently getting passed up by the Oppo Blu-ray player. which so happens to cost more than $700.

time and time again, cnet raves about who the PS3 IS nearly the best bluray player. and now its $249, when cheap junky ones are still around $100. (for example i quick shearch of bestbuy.com, and you will find their cheapest most bare bones, feature lacking bluray player for $90, which is a sale price).

bluray players with comparable features and playback quality or more than 2x the cost. and they still arent videogame systems
