One of the things I thought was precisely that it could be a little uncomfortable for other kinds of games, the design I did was mostly an experiment to see what people here thought about the idea (and because I would prefer a symmetric position instead of crossed like on xbox). Something that could help on a design like that could be making R3 (and L3) the most relevant buttons (such as X and O) on most games so that it would still be comfortable for games like plataformers. Making those buttons more sensitive would also help. |
That would be interesting although the buttons would need a lot of work. There would need to be balanced to make sure the joysticks allows responsive movement while also allowing the player to press them (just think about pushing the analog stick forward and pressing it at the same time to jump). It would be difficult, especially in fast-paced situations where someone would need to perform multiple jumps in quick succession. Its possible, but the buttons would need a lot of fine-tuning from where they currently stand.
I wasn't sure when I made my original post if you actually made the concepts, but I have to say it is a very nice job.... much better than I could come up with.
