It could be close to dying, it could be just as simple as it getting too hot once. Red light is overheating, something as simple as vacuuming it out could be the fix. It has also been known to be a precursor to the YLOD. Mine shutdown and blinked on me about a month ago, I vacuumed it out and havent had a single issue since and my ps3 is on ALOT. Backup your saves to be on the safe side, give it a good cleaning, and hope for the best!
