He's right. Mass consumer doesn't care so much about bluray/ real 1080p. That's why bluray's haven't taken over DVDs yet.
I know one person with a stand-alone player.... why? because what's the point? To may more for quality that is almost matched by a up-scaled dvd. I have one Bluray myself.. Avatar. Everything else I'm fine with DVD. If the cost was the same, I'd buy bluray, but if its a few bucks more.. I buy DVD as does the mass consumer.
Hell if the mass consumer was so up in arms about as good as possible HDTV... cable would be dead as Satellite is far better source for TV. But, they don't care and cable is still top dog.
Same reason Wii is the biggest Netflix box... mass consumer is ok with DVD quality.
There is no way MS is going to do this. It is a waste for the mass consumer and would potentially get in the way with their next console which will surely have bluray.
