Even if you showed most people a 1080p streamed movie from Zune and the Blu-Ray, they wouldn't see the difference. Hell, a lot of people don't even care about HD, how do you think those people feel about 1080p vs 1080p? If I were to guess, I would guess that MS is wary about another expensive addon people won't buy (talking about the HD-DVD player, not something else :-p) that also competes with their DD approach. Adding a Blu-Ray doesn't really get them that far and it's not that important of a buzz word. Things like Zune, Netflix, and download are much better words for them. That approach also moves people to buy the expensive addon people will buy-- hard drives. |
The problem with that argument is that you think that I think that most people care about it. I never said it, I never implied it. When properly implemented, Blu-ray playback is awesome. Plain and simple. Those "few" Xbox 360 owner without a Blu-ray player who are interest will have that opportunity, that advantage. I don't care what Microsoft's approach is. Business, business trends, and business tactics change. If Microsft can offer Blu-ray via Xbox 360, more power to everyone. No excuses.
