They do have a point. It's not a healthy industry were nearly every game MUST sell a million units to be successful. Back in the day, a game only needed to sell a few 100k and be profitable. That's not the case today.
That's why I always smile when I see games like Catherine or Demon's Souls being huge successes. Demon's Souls is a bad example because it did sell a million units, but it only needed to sell around half of that.
