If you accept the believe (or disbelief for that matter) of a concious "God," I think one of three things NEED to be true, if you look at all the suffering that has taken place in our world.. Either:
1. There is no God
2. There IS a God, but he has no control over the evils of the world
3. There IS a God, but he simply doesn't care.
The raminfications of any of these three options to me are pretty frightening, any way you slice it.
This is why in my opinion, yes there is some sort of higher "power" out there that we do not, or cannot comprehend.But I don't see this power as a concious, human-like "being" that watches over us and makes decisions on a whim that shape our world and universe. I think rather it is more like a set of laws or concept, like gravity, that we have yet to discover, and may never.
