That's still the point. All these games that are annual releases are huge rip offs for consumers. They could almost always easily be expansion packs or DLC releases for far cheaper. But that's why companies make them. They spen A LOT on the first game of the engine... and make a decent marin. Then every subsequent game is produced for 1/10th of the cost and makes 100x bigger margin. Company perspective its perfect. Repackage the same shit in a new color. The sheep will flock to it.
Why do you think EA doesn't want a new generation yet? It would hurt their annual release schedule for many sports titles as they would then need new engines that in turn would actually offer new experiences ... i.e. new games.
Activision doesnt have so many annual sports games so COD has become its Madden and FIFA. Its just a copy of last years game with new mods and maybe a tiny new gimmick.
BF2 was a NEW game from BF1942/Vietnam.
BF3 is a NEW game from BF2/BF2142.
COD has been the same since MW1. Just new maps and few new gimmicks...
sorry for the rant... annual games have always been something that just irks me. I prefer a new game with an expansion pack or something... or at least a couple years appart to really see a massive difference ... like BF2 and BF2142.. same engine but at least they are clearly different in many ways.
