You gotta dissect the ad.

The game doesnt need pumping up. The fans of the game know what they are going to expect and they will get just that. 

What the ad is trying to do is give some insight into the camaraderie of it all. Trails and pushing through different obstacles. Staying with eachother through it all and until the end. Karen Traviss. She wrote the novels for Gears of War. Shes writing 3 new Halo novels. She wrote the story for Gears 3.

The idea is to give the series more depth then the stereotype that its just a bunch of muscled men shooting aliens.
