Will the launch of PSV affect PS3 sales in Japan?

dunno, never really followed sales data at the time..but the 3ds release didn't have much of an affect on the wii sales in japan afaik. will be similar in this case as well

See I just view 3DS and Wii as completely different systems, where I view PSV and PS3 as moderatly similar consoles. So far the only big games announced for 3DS are remakes or similar games to Wii (Mario Kart, Super Mario, Paper Mario), however the experience is different overall. 3DS is about 3D gaming, where Wii is about motion controls. I know the 3DS is motion sensitive, but you have to look at the screen, so you can't use it in the same way as on the Wii (e.g. Wii Sports).

The only PSV game that strikes me as unique is something called "Little Deviants." It's a game where you basically move landstructures via touchpad to move little deviants around. Similar to Pikmin.

I mean, what does the PSV do that makes it so different then PS3? Trophies, social networking, and the types of games are all the same. The controller doesn't seem unique enough for me to see a difference.

I'm going to have to look back and see if PSP made a difference to PS2 sales.... maybe a bit, but not much, PS2 was downhill since 2003, with a noticably larger drop in 2005. So... It's possible (off a very quick glance) that PSP took off 400k annual sales, which would be 15% or so. Nothing major, the drop due to age would be a larger affect.

I'm not gonna go on and list games A and here's how it plays different etc....there are plenty of resources on this site and on many places online. Do yourself a favor and inform yourself more before making these ignorant remarks.

you do realize the psv brings more way to play games than the 3ds! i mean really...do you even read what you type? and please stop saying the types of games are all the same...geez...ignorance overload! you as usual have no clue about what you are talking about...even the games like UC uses vita in its own special way that's not done so on console counterpart...pretty much almost all vita games have that aspect. the experience is much much different than on a home console.

it doesn't matter what YOU view...in japan ps3 and psp has co-existed just fine...

and pleaseeeeeeee..stop with the fake analyzing. there is no way to know for sure how much of an impact psp had on the 'ps2'..with time hardware sales drop a bit ..it's only natural..and other home consoles for the next gen including the sony one was revealed in 2005. without any proper evidence to back up your deductions they are worthless and just taking shots in the dark so to speak.
