I fell for something similar when I lived in Atlanta. Some sketchy looking guy came into our store and tried to sell me a Movado watch for a couple hundred dollars. I told him I didn't have that kind of money and I pretended I knew something about jewelry. It was supposed to be 14karrat gold or something--I mean, it was imprinted into the watch. Anyway, the guy eventually wound up selling it to me for $80. I kept the watch in its case (complete with a $1000 price tag) and the very first time I tried to put it on, it fell apart. I felt like shit.
