God does not temp us.  Satan does.

God's DNA is a part of us.  We were created in his image, therefore we have passions and desires.  We are here to learn to master those passions and desires.  Satan is the one putting the dirty thoughts into your mind of all the bad things you want to do with said hot lady.

I didn't originally mean temptations as in "dirty thoughts", just that He is "testing us" so to speak. 

I'll agree that one of the main reasons we left God's presence and came to Earth was to be tempted.  I agree with you that God does not tempt us himself, but allows Satan to temp us in order to be tested.  There must be opposition in all things.  If there were no opposition, how would we know the good from the bad, pleasure from pain, or virtue and vice.  There would be no choices to make, we could not exercise our agency to chose if there were no opposition.
