The devs are using ps3 and ps3 fanboy propaganda to hype BF3, using them to go after COD without getting their hands dirty at the same time catering to ps3 fanboy insecurities insuringsales on PS3.Read ahead for some substantial evidence regarding the moves made by EA and Dice till date which supports the aforementioned conclusion. EA CEO John Riccitiello stated that Battlefield 3 is aimed at competing with the Call of Duty series. “This November, we’re launching Battlefield 3. It’s going up against the next Call of Duty, which is presently the #1 game in the game industry,” he affirmed. “A game that last year did $400 million dollars in revenue on day one. Battlefield 3 is designed to take that game down.” EA is planning on spending over $100 million dollars on a marketing campaign for Battlefield 3. How else can you make the game stand out without promoting Battlefield 3 on the PC and especially on the Playstation 3 since Activision has a long history of promoting the Call of Duty series on the Xbox 360 as their lead platform. 2)Talking smack against Call of Duty franchise and create a flamebait Electronic Arts’ EA Games label, stated that Battlefield 3 is a “flat out superior” product to blockbuster FPS Call of Duty. EA has also said it’s going on the “offense” in regards to its marketing on Battlefield 3, saying that it kicked off its campaign early to establish a “beachhead.” This statement was intended to further enrage the Call of Duty fan-following which includes a major chunk of Xbox 360 COD fanboys and then timing it with the release of new Gameplay footage of BF3 running on the PS3 thus creating a nice sense of superiority among the PS3 gamers to turn their heads towards BF3 to ward off the 360 love that COD offers. Though both the games are Multiplatform this successfully creates a flame war against PS3 and 360 gamers who brag about these games as if BF3 v/s MW3 = PS3 v/s Xbox 360. Karl Magnusson who’s the General Manager of DICE commented about the size of the game and that the Xbox 360 version would ship on Multiple Discs. This statement was also a welcome message to the PS3 gamers to start a war on multiple forums and website citing that no matter how big the game might be, the PS3 version would be packed on a single Blu ray disc as opposed to the Xbox 360 version.Though this seems very silly and an insignificant reason, it is these small things that matter when it comes to Console war fanatics. 4)Christina Coffin’s statement confirming that the PS3 version will be using SPU-based deffered shading system Chistina Coffin,Senior Engineer at DICE revealed through a collection of slides at GDC’11 that the Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 3 would utilize Tiled-based deferred shading for the Real time rendering. DICE cites the reason as being the Xbox 360 not having SPUs, however it appears this will provide a better experience for PS3 owners as it’ll enable them to produce better visuals as having the ability to use the SPU+GPU together “raises the bar.” This also enables to offload some of the SPU’s work to the GPU, providing them with more space to create better looking shaders and environments. There is also an other report by DICE that they will be able to use the SPU for morphological anti-aliasing (MLAA) on PS3. 5) No evidence of any gameplay footage of BF3 running on the Xbox 360 EA is smart. They are purposefully resorting to promoting the PS3 as they always have done with their previous titles like Medal of Honor and Crysis 2. They are using ps3 fanboys to hype and talk smack against COD. In the last weeks before launch they will start showing the 360 version to get 360 fans excited before launch and to distract them from COD knowingly causing more fights/hype/attention due to ps3 fans tolling the new 360 footage. Also this technical jargon wont matter until and unless the game looks Substantially superior on the PS3 compared to its Xbox 360 counterpart, which is very doubtful. With all the above moves that EA has taken it can be safely understood that either directly or indirectly, EA wants to topple COD to take that spot of the No.1 Console FPS with the aid of PS3 fanbase to promote Battlefield 3. " to be honest i consider mw 3 to be garbage anyway, but regardless there's the point that mw 3 has timed exclusive content on 360, i remember the devs of bf 3 saying they had found a unique lighting technique specifically for the 360 version and other things i may have missed. Therefore i'd say that this claim is nonsense imo
1)John Riccitiello’s statement and unveiling of only PS3 gameplay footage
3)Announcement that BF3 to be on Multiple Discs on the Xbox 360.
It was also revealed that the PS3 would utilize SPU-based deferred shading system.
