Is there someone who you often disagree with ideologically but still view as a hero?

How so?

Having respect for and loving someone you disagree with and seeing their accomplishments is in no way saying something bad about your own beliefs.

Now I admit Jack Layton is one of very few people I disagree with yet view as a hero.

But lets even say respect.

I disagree with several users here on VGChartz from Sapphi to Seece. Yet I have great respect for them in almost all cases. We disagree yet I try to understand their view points and perspectives. Heck I've clashed with PearlJammer in many threads to, yet both I and PearlJammer and many other users who I clash with have mutual respect for one another. Not sure if they respect me, but all those I listed have shown me decency in most cases and respect.

Just because you disagree with someone doesn't mean you can't respect them. Love them, recognise their accomplishments or see them as a Hero.

Another example I admire Buddhist Monks and Catholic Monks. For their dedication and their ferver. Yet I disagree with both ideologically. However their passion and such is both admirable and respectable despite my disagreements ideologically.

Infact the Muslim's who get killed standing up for their faiths, or the Jews or anyone who dies for their faith. I have great respect for even though I don't follow their religion or belief system.

The ability to look past some ideological views and see people for who they really are, doesn't mean your views are strained or that you are in any way less dedicated to those beliefs.

Its highly close minded to only respect those you agree with. It does alot more harm then good especially in a democracy.
