Christianity still is depending on how far you drive out in the country. Hell, for me all I need to do is go home to get a heavy dose of evangelical, the Bible will answer all your doubts bullcrap.

As far as the treatment of women as equals, treating homosexuals with dignity and forgiving those who have engaged in adulterous conduct, I would take the Southern Baptist from Mississippi over the Sunni Muslim from Riyadh anyday of the week. The Baptist may give me a good lecture, but he sure as crap won't take my sister out into the middle of nowhere during the middle of the night and cut off her nose just because she tried to escape an unhappy marriage.

That's only because the law doesn't allow them to do that. For example, you can't do that in Turkey, which is a predominantly Muslim country. The reason is because Turkey is a secular country, and not a theocracy, like Iran or Saudi Arabia. You can be sure that if the US were a theocracy you'd see Baptists stoning people to death etc. Secularism is the reason why the West is a nice place to live in, and it's also the reason why Christians don't go around punishing people Bible-style.
