They have more way more crazy theories. Elenin was just the newest one. It was clear long ago that it wouldnt come close to earth.
All the other theories arent even worth mentioning.
Solarflares are regular events there is a solar maximum every ten years. 2012 happens to be in that time frame but Its unlikely it will have a catastrophic effect.
