Because it's hypocrisy to talk about increasing jobs in your own country and then buy something from other country using taxpayers money.

Sure a single bus isn't much in the grand picture but politicians are suppossed to be giving example to people.

Umm its hypocracy to go around talking free trade with other countries and then only buy American made products. Nobody in Britain or Canada get upset when our politicians drive around in American made vehicles while talking Canadian/British Jobs, why because we respect free trade and honour our agreements.

It sets a good example to the American people to only buy American, but what message does that send to your trading partners and their citizens?

Canada is the US's largest trading partner buying a bus from your largest trading partner shouldn't be seen as bad by any American's. Without Canada's trade the US would be screwed. Without Mexico without all the other free trade countries the US would be screwed.

Obama is doing the right thing by buying some vehicles and stuff from Canada. It sends a clear message to Canadian's and the international community that the US respects and honours its free trade agreements.

Plus trade with Canada increases jobs in America just as much as in Canada. So buying a bus shouldn't be seen as a negative under any light. Its really stupid that this is making headlines all over, the press aren't even just pointing it out they are starting to throw insults.
