Could we actually fight a war against an alien race?

Fuck that Alien scum!!

I'll admit I am not completely knowledable about that area, but from my perception of it I feel most conservative religious people (of any religion) who see any alien life form as 'an abomination' as it contradicts the idea that humans being created in god's image and effectively being his 'chosen race'. Conservatives would likely see aliens as 'creatures of the devil' and attack them, more or less satrting another series of crusades.
