The only way microsoft would cut the price in the U.S, would be if a $249 PS3 is enough to become a threat as a competitive system stealing a significant amount of market share, that is unlikely though, it'll probably outsell the 360 by a significant amount globally in the short term, but microsoft is doing well at this price, and shouldn't cut yet

But since you did bring it up, I will reply. Microsoft will cut, and quite frankly, can easily afford to cut $100 and still break even on the console. Expect a moderate few week bump to sales for the PS3 from this $50 cut and a huge surge in 360 sales when their cut comes along.

they won't cut to $100 as they don't need it and it will hurt them in the long term as they won't have anything next year for a cut

they will cut $50 at most and cut more on bundles to offer value
