Why would microsoft cut to $149? They're selling well in the U.S, and they discontinued the console in japan..

The only thing that would make sense is to cut in Europe

The only way microsoft would cut the price in the U.S, would be if a $249 PS3 is enough to become a threat as a competitive system stealing a significant amount of market share, that is unlikely though, it'll probably outsell the 360 by a significant amount globally in the short term, but microsoft is doing well at this price, and shouldn't cut yet

While I respect your opinions most of the time and here as well I do however disagree with you. I think a $249 PS3 will have a somewhat significant effect. With sales of PS3s in the U.S. roughly around 20,000 less than X360 a week I think this will push them to about even or a bit above X360 in the U.S. And I think it will increase their lead over X360 of around 20,000 more units a week to around 30 or 40,000 more units a week in Europe than X360.

I think MS would be rather foolish to not drop their prices, especially if they want to keep ahead in the U.S. market and relevent in the Euro market. I think we will see a price cut from MS within the next few weeks now. I always believed that Sony would cut their price by $50 first and then MS would follow.
