You're using facebook wrong.
The wall/news feed section of it is complete bullshit, ignore it.
But it is still the most efficient way to organise an event, and it is a fairly good photo sharing method. I use my facebook account just for those two things, and occasionally to message someone if I don't know their email address/phone number.
