Kind of. You can't carry it in any government buildings, anywhere that serves alchohol, or anyplace that puts up a "no concealed firearms" sign, which is most places. 

its not as many places as you make it out to be, but still to many. most of those restrictions are completely  pointless and do nothing to keep people safe, infact people are less safe because of them. just look at universities.

yes you can take you firearm with you into most places, concealed on you person in any fashion you deem fit, doesnt have to be holstered.

some states even have open carry laws, where you can have you firearm any where on you body, and people can obviously see it. which is a not a very smart thing to do, and i would never advocate practicing open cary.
