The casual market on the Wii rejects garbage which is why it's mostly only Nintendo who is capable of selling multiple millions of copies of a single game. The FIFA titles on the Wii are dumbed down trash and the license can't make up for the shortcomings of the game. Anyway, licensed games are the most casual form of gaming. You have people who know nothing about gaming buy these things based on their name alone. Whether that is TV, movie or sports licenses, it doesn't matter. EA knows this which is why they try to buy as many exclusive rights as possible. FIFA and Madden target the most uninformed type of gamer. |
And I totally agree that sports games are some of the most casual games out there but what I said is that it doesn't and won't appeal to the casual audience who knows little about the sport in question. They will appeal to the hardcore fans of the sport. My mom won't play FIFA while she will definitely play Wii Sports. Same thing applies to me. I know little to nothing about soccer but I bought Mario Strikers and I have absolutely no intention of playing FIFA.
