EA.

Known as the king of sports in the gaming world, or at least the king of sporting licences.

Why didn't/couldn't they come up with Wii Sports?

Have EA ever made a peripheral to sell a genre that they 'allegedly' excel in?

Dance mats, plastic instruments, microphones, balance board, wiimote and kinect have all helped sell music games and yet EA never, or haven't seemed to, contemplate a 'sports peripheral'.

The wiimote initially sold on Wii Sports alone. Less than half a GB of data. Guitar Hero and Dance mats had already paved the way. Is EA stupid?

What Nintendo did, wiimote, bb, M+, is nothing that a 3rd party couldn't have come up with and made even more than Nintendo did by making it multiplatform. They could have singlehandedly kept the PS2 alive whilst still making Wii and HD versions.

Wii Sports + Wiimote at $100-$150 x 25M = $2.5-3.8 Billion on wii alone at a 25% AR.

Follow up with M+ or wiimote+ and ubisoft camera a couple of years later to pocket another 2 or 3 billion.

EA doesn't deserve to be in the games industry anymore and somebody else should have a crack at the licenses.

It would be stupid. They are 3rd party developers and their main focus is software. Think about if they tried to create peripherals that had to be compatible for multiple consoles and create software too, it would be a mess. EA might be big when it comes to 3rd party development but I doubt they would be able to sustain creating hardware and software.
