Canada is one of those countries that acts and that counts for a lot! You should take pride in that.
As a retired member of the British military I can say both past and current serving members of the British Armed forces recognise your deeds both past and present.
I would not concern yourselves with views such as Kain_Kusanagi who clearly does not understand Canada's position in the new world today. Canada may well be a member of the commonwealth but it is also closely aligned with the US in many ways.
