As a Canadian, I think most people around the world think of Canada as the first country to gain its independence by asking really nicely ...
Realistically, I think the reason Canada is so often over looked is that we're a country that always plays a supporting role. While we may (at times) take on a disproportionately large role, the fact that we're not large enough to take on the lead role makes us easy to forget.
