The same site has a list of the top selling DVDs last year. No Saw movie was even in the top 100. If you browse the list, you'll see that the top movies aren't very violent, and certainly not gorry.

This list explains why the thread starter didn't bother to link to readily available data. It completely defeats his point and my assumption was correct.

Most studios make sure their films avoid the R rating, because it increases the number of people that would go and see the movie.
