That's really dumb I have to say...You really can't be straight and proud I mean...YOU HAVE YOUR RIGHTS...Seriously...Like what else do you want and why do you want to parade around for? You have your fucking rights already.

This!

From what i read in this thread, the point of straight pride would be to show the "hypocritical nature" of organising pride parades.

It's about pointing out that big flaw in the old (lefitst) idea of two wrongs make a right.

Except that's a misinterpretation of the reason behind pride parades (or behind 'leftist' policies in general). All a 'straight pride' parade would accomplish is show how gay bashing is still OK (that's the entire purpose of it), and further confirm the necessity of 'leftist' policies.

tut tut....

When gays do it its to celebrate their sexuality, when straight do it its assumed that it would be gay bashing.

If you don't know, this is what is meant by double standards. Even christians had a reason behind gay bashing, doesn't mean it was ok. Having a reason doesn't make discrimination ok. Funny how you don't understand that.

Stop throwing around the word 'discrimination', when it has nothign to do with this situation. It's also not a double standard when you take into consideration the fact that:

a. heterosexuality is celebrated constantly in society;

b. gays don't really have many occasions to celebrate their sexuality;

c. Having a 'straight pride' parade is just a pleonasm, a perverse one, considering that it's purpose is to counter the so-called 'privileges' gays have.

I think I understand what you mean by a. Unfortunately just because something is constantly celebrated doesn't make it impossible to be celebrated more. And if someone wants to celebrate then he/she should have the right to do so.

As for b. Then create opportunities for them to celebrate more. However one shouldn't try to keep how much one celebrates equal.

As for c. The way I read it, I thought it maybe a way to achieve gov equality. By granting them their parade the authorities are just giving something not taking anything away.
