Will a Mario-like IP ever be created in future?

We're talking about mega sales, highly acclaimed and super iconic character IPs. Not Halo level, Mario level.

 

So I was wondering what others thought of this question. In future generations to come, will a Mario like IP ever be created? Or will there never be another Mario like IP?
