One thing you have to understand is that not all heterosexuals are oppressors.
As a group, heterosexuals are oppressors.
So making laws/privileges that only benefit one section of the society and not allowing the other is pretty discriminatory. Even if they are the minority.
It's clear you fall in the category of people that doesn't understand the purpose of those laws (I assume you're talking of hate crime laws, no?).
