The modern number system comes from India, not the Arabs. It was stolen when Muslim invaders tried to take over India. So get used to the fact that your actually using a Hindu number system every day of your life...
More importantly, you can't really do math with Roman numberals since there is no 'zero' and everything becomes a mess.
