When you see something out of the ordinary your more likely to look at it and in games case gives a better chance of being sold to "hipster" consumers. I wholly disagree with this post. Roman numerals have much to do with the environment and feeling of the game itself. If it is a game about times that could relate to what Rome was like (or is percieved to have been) in the past, these numerals fit well. If not, the don't. That way we could see that a game like Halo benefits more from standard (modern after a fashion) numbers, but games like Age of Empires would benefit more from roman numerals, because they fit better in the style of the game.
