Radio and dash lights stay on, just the gauges go right down to zero instantly.

How do I get my codes to find out what the computer is picking up?

I'm not sure about where you live, but around here car parts stores will pull the codes for free. It's likely a connection/ground problem or the fuel pump or it's relay going bad. Also if your car uses a distrubutor that's an easy and cheap thing to change/set. You might want to check your coil and it's connections also.

Also, I'm not sure about your car, but a lot of models you can get the codes on your dash by performing the right sequence before turning your key.  For mine I have to hold the odometer reset button for a few seconds and then release and turn the key to the on position.  The display will then flash all of the problem codes my computer had picked up.   I just thought I'd add this in case you don't have a parts store that will read your codes for free for you.
