We have a whopping sales tax of around 7% here (it is different depending on the city). The 15% has already been taken off of my income (not to mention other taxes), so that income is on about 70% of my money. So the "real" tax value of a sales tax is more like 4.9% of our actual income. This isn't even mentioning the fact that you only don't get charged sales tax for certain necessary items such as food and clothes. Having an incentive such as that isn't even CLOSE to having 15% of my total income being taken away from me. Also, I would LOVE to hear what exactly is your definition of "fair" in regards to how democrats treat people. I'm always confused when people say democrats treat people more fair. Please explain to me why if I were to make $1,000,000 in income, I should have (for example) 35% of my income taxed, but if somebody makes $100,000, they should only have (for example) 29% of their income taxed (%'s were made up). Are these rich people receiving more benefits from society that the middle class aren't getting? Are the rich not driving on the exact same roads as the poor? Are the rich not walking on the same sidewalks as the poor? Are the rich not using the same public transportation as the poor? Are the rich receiving defense worth 35% of their money, but the middle class are only receiving defense worth 29% of their money? Are the rich getting better teachers, better public schools, better state universities than the middle class are getting? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! The rich are getting the exact same services that the less wealthy people in our country are getting. So tell me why, JUST WHY, it is fair for the rich to be paying 35% taxes but the less wealthy to be paying 29% taxes. You want fair? Fair is everybody pays the exact same tax rate, except those underneath a certain level (i.e. $20,000 or $30,000 or some other low number where paying taxes would deter from their ability to live at least a healthy life (by healthy, I mean having a place to live, being able to eat, along with a couple other essential things in life...cell phones, video games, and other luxuries are not essential to life)). How about now we talk about services that help the poor. Am I fine with helping out a family that is having a really hard time in life? Sure I am! I'm all for helping a family out for a year who things just didn't go right for. But 1 year is plenty of time to get 2 full time jobs at McDonalds and be making $32,000 per year (at $8 per hour). How about helping families who have a child with a disease or problem? I'm all for helping them. Stuff like that can be very expensive, and I think it is just fine that the government provides help for them. You know what I'm not fine with? The fact that I tried very hard in school, and some people didn't give a fucking shit about school. Some of these people go on to have difficulty in their life, and wind up living on government handouts. Why the fuck should I be paying for people that just didn't give a rat's ass about school? The fact that I have to pay this isn't fair. How about the banking industry. Lets go back to the 1990's, in the Clinton era. It is obviously only fair that EVERYBODY should be able to get a loan. Whether or not they can actually afford it, they should defiantly be able to go live in a house. Yes, that is right, this absolute bullshit where anybody could walk in and get a loan all started in the Clinton era. Why is it fair that everybody should be able to get a loan? If you can't afford a god damned loan, you shouldn't be given a loan. But nope, that just isn't fair...everybody should be able to live in a house. Well, take a wild guess at what happened? People started defaulting on their loans. It doesn't work to just loan money to anybody out there. Not to mention, how the fuck is it "fair" to just give loans to everybody. We aren't just entitled to live in a house that requires a loan beyond our means. That is why apartments, and other forms of cheaper living exist. But you know what? I've realized already that certain things in life simply aren't fair. There is no if's, and's, or but's. Certain things simply aren't fair. But to say that the Democrats treat everybody fairly because they help out poor people, and want rich people to pay more taxes, etc., is a lie that I am so SICK and tired of hearing, it is just becoming unbearable. Oh, I just thought I would mention one more thing very quickly. While I can't find the link to it, a friend showed me several years back an article in regards to the average income of democrats and republicans, as well as the average donations of republicans and democrats. The average democrat made slightly more (it surprised me) money than the average republican, but donated SIGNIFICANTLY less money per year on average than republicans. I just wanted to say this because people always act as if the democrats care so much more about the needy than the republicans, yet the republicans are the ones that are giving considerably more money to the needy. |
Whopping 7%! And that too is not on everything! We have 13% tax for every god damn thing no matter what (In Ontario) and on top of that the Canadian dollar is worth more than the U.S. dollar and we still have to pay the same or more on goods! And don't even get started about the income tax. What an average American with a family of four only has to take off $1100 dollars for there medical care. For that we have to pay something called "harmoniesed sales tax" which is 13% tax on every god damn thing! Okay no lets get back to topic. I'm glad that you worked hard in school and did well but what about those people who didn't even get to go to school? And before you start criticzing those people think about this the average poor/ lower class American works about 40+ hours a week! They do deserve something right? And you know the reason why the States is in this condition now? It's because the republican's hardly took taxes from the rich. They weren't so bad on the poor/ middle class but in the state it was in they needed to take taxes from those big companies and the rich to fix the situation they were in. Don't even get me started about the all the big companies in Wall Street that made billions, no trillions of dollars just in profits and ended up paying NO and I mean NO fucking tax at all! Infact they helped those big companies out with middle class taxes aka the tax your paying to help those companies instead of actually taking tax from them. The Republican's moto is "less taxes" but the truth is that they only mean that for the rich people. They still take the same amount of tax from them. You have to look beyond that my friend. Do you have any ideas where the taxes were going when you payed the Republican's or when you payed the Democrats? You should really take a good look at it.
