the only reasons for this move that I can think of are

1. something to do with ps3 price cut

2. 3ds price cut

3. logistics issue and being unable to supply promtly all regions from the get go

4. Kinect being a monster this holiday season, rendering a PS Vita launch irrelevant. That's why PS Vita launches in Japan this year, because the Xbox 360 and Kinect don't matter over there.

good point but I don't believe sony is aiming at the casual market with psv in its first year in the market. so doubt kinect has anything to do with it
