You forgot one big gripe, Keep the mouse pointer updated at 60fps at all times.
I hate games where you change the options to something unplayable by your pc and then have to struggle to get the mouse pointer back on the options in the menu. How hard is it to overlay a mouse pointer on the rest.
I don't really need a high frame rate in games like civilization, but I DO need a responsive mouse pointer.

I agree with everything. I hated the menus and the lacking key bindings in The Witcher 2 and re-using the same key for different functions. I thought it was a pc game, but it was obviously designed for a controller.
It's saving grace was the extensive graphics options, it let me turn off all the motion blur and bloom crap I dislike from console games. Of course it faltered again by locking the game in 16:9 with black borders until patch 1.3

Anyway consoles have the same problem. I love Catherine, but who on earth thought it was a good idea to use x for letting go and dropping to your doom, while every other game uses x to jump or climb up.
And there are still games coming out that don't let you invert x and y axis independently.
