As for why I played all the games... Mario is a pretty boring character.  But the gameplay in his games is fun and compelling.  There's your clue.

It is clear you give more weight to the gameplay than everything else.

It depends on the type of games.  But I usually don't stop to the kind of superficiality that you seem to.

I enjoy a good story in a game just like the next guy.  But some game types don't focus on that aspect and offer something different.

As for Link looking like a female... maybe you should have your eyes checked.

EDIT: On the contrary, the one being "superficial" is you for ignoring fundamental things , just because it is game.   In the end it really depends on your believes and what you like.    If you dont mind playing as a travestite,  a fat dude, or a girly boy in a game then good for you,.   But I dont think it is right to promote those kind of things if you consider that kids also play the games.

I suggest you look the meaning of the word superficial in a dictionary.

As far as I know, you've clearly stated many times already that the LOOKS is very important to you.  That is being superficial.
