Hitler was certainly not a right wing conservative ... Fascism is a movement based in extreme nationalism and patriotism where the individuals role is to serve the state. Here is a direct quote from Hitler: "What matters is to emphasize the fundamental idea in my party's economic program clearly -- the idea of authority. I want the authority; I want everyone to keep the property he has acquired for himself according to the priniciple: benefit to the community precedes benefit to the individual. But the state should retain supervision and each property owner should consider himself appointed by the state. It is his duty not to use his property against the interests of others among his own people. This is the crucial matter. The Third Reich will always retain its right to control the owners of property." Direct points from the policy manifesto or the Nazi's:
Fascism was sold as a third way between communism and capitalism, but at its core it only adopts enough capitalism to make it a more effective economy for waging war. The best approximation for what an ideal fascist economy would look like would be to look at state-run capitalism in China, which allows for far more economic and personal freedom than Nazi Germany ever did. |
Ok. I concede your point that nazism is too complex a movement to categorize it as strictly right wing.
Let's then say Italy's Mussolini or Spain's Franco, or indeed many extreme right wing government that have killed many people.
Regardless, it's not the extreme left that caused the Holocaust. I'm not defending extreme left either, I don't have any sympathy for Stalin, they have done things as terrible or more. But I don't think sapphi's comments are extreme left or that he would in any way support the holocaust. That's a very bold statement to make with no facts.
As I said, any ideology taken to the extreme is dangerous, that's all I'm saying.
