Accounting for inflation? Speaking as a Brit and as a non-expert so I may not know the finer details, continually raising the debt doesn't look like the solution to anything. If all you do if raise it everytime you reach it, whats the point of even having one? A limit is just that, a limit! Both sides are still fighting for their own causes and failing to compromise. Feel they need to accept that they need to make a few (potentially) unpopular decisions like raises taxes and cutting speanding (in suitable areas), but as far as I can see, both parties are still fighting a popularity contest rather than actually governing. |
The problem is not a revenue problem. Its clearly a spending problem. Taxes do not need to be raised, the government needs to make massive cuts in spending and focus on what it is there for, protection of its citizens from others, and stop with all the social programs that take away an individuals choice in how their life is run.
