*sigh* I remember Battlefield 2: Modern Combat having better maps than Bad Company 2.
I really wish that FPS's would:
1) Create more open maps, with a lot more variety in them (lots of buildings, lots of cover, lots of ways to go in and out).
Creating maps that focus the action on certain areas (chokepoints), might make for a more action packed level... if you call everyone just crouching near each other and throwing grenades "action". It also becomes mundane.
Creating open maps (or rather, maps with variety. I personally love urban settings as opposed to natural ones), allows players to try new strategies, and forces players to constantly change their strategies to keep up with the enemy.
2) Lower damage/Increase health
It's simply frusturating to see games take the same route Modern Warfare took. Uncharted 3's beta was absolutely fun, but the whiners had to get the AK-47 to lower its recoil and increase its damage. Bleh.
I like to liken what's happening to shooters, as to what happened to warfare with WWI. It's all trench warfare now. Just sit and wait. Don't go out in the open, unless you want to die instantly.
Pretty much those 2. Increase recoil too. Get rid of quick scoping.
