Microsoft wouldn't let their system be down that long. 3 days tops. I bet my VGChartz career on it.

Anything can be hacked. The problem is Sony did very little to prevent it and Microsoft wouldn't be down for as long, if it ends up being down more then 2 days then call me out it and I won't show my face around here ever again.

personally i don't know but regardless in terms of xbl what does this mean? you just said anything can be hacked so regardless of what measures they have in place it can be hacked anyway if you really believe what you said

xbl live was down for almost 2 weeks in some areas in 2007 the cause wasn't hacking ( which happens on xbl a lot regardless of what you believe but obviously on a much lesser scale than the psn hack ), it was apparently caused by server strain... which xbl fees are supposed to alleviate

Um yeah the servers had problems for two weeks and it was on and off, they weren't down. It was no where near the scale of PSN problems, basically your matches were laggy but chat was fine and I had no problems dling anything in those weeks. When PSN was down you could do pretty much nothing.

My point is MS has put in more preventive measures to stop hacking, otherwise lulzsec wouldn't take down Live. Does anyone honestly thing lulzsec didn't touch Microsoft because they love them?  Microsoft puts their money towards a more robust online interface as well as server stability, and coming with Gears 3 you'll have dedicated servers. What has Sony done with their "paid" service of Playstation Plus? They give discounted games and free games, but have done nothing to prove their servers will be reliable in the future.

as i said "xbl live was down for almost 2 weeks in some areas" in some areas... while the service may have been fine for you there were several people who were unable to acces it

ok according to you their service is better protected but my point from before is if it can be hacked anyway what does it matter... i've seen several cases of lone wolf hackers hacking live with ease recent cases are the ones with the chief of security and michael patcher :

imo anyone who really believes that what happened with psn can't happen with live needs to wake up

its amusing to me that you mention gears having dedicated servers then ask what sony has done with their servers... many ms first party games like halo, gears, etc have ran on p2p servers which in the case of games like gears 2 caused issues online meanwhile almost all sony first party games run dedicated servers

psn users don't have to care about psplus they have access to what i'd say is a comparable set of online features for free with the exception of cross game chat and the party system
