We recently got some time to sit down with Need For Speed: The Run with the producer Alex Grimbley and asked him a few questions regarding the new direction of the title and if it will have any elements of older titles in the franchise. One pertaining to customization which has reared its head in a few Need For Speed titles. We weren’t entirely surprised with his answer but some fans might be disappointed.
When we sat down to play the gorgeous game featuring a brand new demo section we were happy to see the game in action. We wondered if there would be any customization in the new title as that would be pretty cool as far as character or otherwise. Alex Grimbley, producer at Black Box whom is developing Need For Speed: The Run said “We decided against customization because that is not what The Run is about.” It is an understandable stance given that is a whole new direction for the franchise. He continued, “We want to focus on the story and the race itself.” So everyone should expect a heavy story and beautiful visuals on the Frostbite 2.0 engine in NFS: The Run.
Need For Speed: The Run, the game utilizing the Frostbite 2.0 engine in a driving game is unique enough to turn some heads. Add in some out of car action and you got yourself a mind boggling title. When we asked the product manager for the title, Darin Perfonic what the lead development platform for the title was we were intrigued when he replied with, “The lead development platform for The Run is Playstation 3.” In some ways we weren’t surprised since so many EA titles are giving the Sony backing which is great for both systems.
Need For Speed: The Run releases November 15th in North America and November 17th in Europe on Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The other systems will have different versions like the 3DS version will be more comic like.
