I've been in a relationship for a month. It's my first relationship, and I hope it all goes according to that (awesomely) lame Barry White song ("My First, My Last, My Everything"). :3 I'd been in love before, but with the "wrong" people: the first time, I fell in love with a straight guy, which happened to be my best friend - well, my only friend at that time, actually, but that's a whole other story. It was thanks to this that I realized I was (am) gay... and then proceeded to be closeted until I was almost eighteen. Since I came out of the closet (a year and seven months ago, woohoo) I had a couple of crushes and then I fell in love with another friend of mine... who already had a boyfriend.
For a year or so, I'd tried to "erase" those feelings. But of course, feelings don't just magically disappear, and focussing on them doesn't help either.
It was when I stopped trying that I met my boyfriend. xD I honestly feel like I've known him for so much longer than I actually do... in an incredibly short amount of time, he's managed to dispel some of my deepest insecurities. For the first time, I consider myself happy. Not just "content", but happy.
