A lot of FF games can be beaten by spamming the attack button since the series isn't relatively hard. In FFVIII, you can just spam your GFs with no penalty whatsoever. They have their own HP, so they die before you do. Crisis Core is just button smashing. FFX-2 is also button smashing. FFX can also be beaten using the attack command minus the elemental enemies. FFVI is the same. FFXII can play the game for you if you set up the gambits correctly.
The only FF game that actually gave me a challenge was FFIV.

In the other ones you set up your character uniquely, in FFXIII everythings automatic, in the other ones you could get away with pressing X alot but you got worn down and harder enemies you had to use different tatics, the free heals in FF ruins the wearing down, and you are pressing X in FFXIII more then the other ones, so it doesn't have the other elements that made it okay in other games and there's more of it

It's like FFX, except it has more choices. You can decide whether you want to further develop your skills in medic, commando, etc role. In FFX, all you did was follow a linear path in the sphere grid. It isn't until near the end of the game where you could set up your characters, but it's too late by then. There are harder enemies where you have change up your paradigms. I liked the HP refill; it saves me time from doing it myself.
I also like the no towns. Screw all the townspeople that play no role in the story and will never be seen again. I don't care about your daughter getting married or your husband's job. FFXIII eliminated the filler.

That could have been the case but for most of the game you're able to max out all three main jobs for each character before the end of each chapter so there's no specializing going on. I prefered FFX where it was clear Lulu was a black mage, Yuna a white mage/summoner, Auron a fighter and Kimahri sucked.
