Umm, dude, prisoners work. They often do jobs no one else wants too because of the conditions involved, and they do it at a fraction of what non-Prisoners make. And if they can't get a job with an outside company, they mop floors or cook food or do laundry etc. They aren't doing nothing, at least not in the US. As for death row inmates, well, they wouldn't be so expensive if they weren't on death row.
