Which is better - xbox achievements or ps3 trophies?

As a ps3 only console holder, I have only ever been able to collect trophies from my games. It got me wondering which of the two - ps3 trophies or xbox achievements is better. Achievements came out earlier and have a points system (to 1000/game, i think?)  whereas trophies come in gold, silver, bronze and the rare platinum. Trophies also are point based but it's hidden under the colors fasade.

 

Personally i think trophies are better as you can clearly and easily see how many games such person maxed.
