A World Cup ends and you think back if the winner ultimately deserved to win the tournament and when the answer to that is no... well, that's just sad. What Japan showed over the course of the tournament wasn't something that I would call great football or even good football. Instead you see a team that tries to run the clock down only 15 minutes into the final. This is a sign that a team didn't show up to win the game, but only to not lose it and hope that luck is on their side in the end. And it was. Rarely has there been a final as onesided as this one and the weaker team walks away with the World Cup trophy. I like football. I don't like to see teams succeed the way Japan did. They played one good match (vs. Mexico), but that's not enough to be a deserved winner in my eyes. |
It's really up to the opposing team/teams to deal with it.
