The issue is that these are vague software patents that could cover ANYTHING that any software does, it's just that HTC/Google etc. don't want to fight such a costly lawsuit and MS is only asserting them against its direct competotors, when actually the whole planet is in infringement and hence these should never have been granted to MS by the US Patent Office.
