I doesn't matter whether a feature can be "mimicked", it only matters whether a feature will be taken advantage of at a high enough quality often enough to have an impact on sales; and anyone who believes this is the case with the PS Vita/PS3 connectivity is simply being delusional. After all, over 5 years ago Sony talked about how the PSP and PS3 could interact and yet almost no games were released that took advantage of those features; why would we expect PS Vita/PS3 connectivity to be taken advantage of when PSP/PS3 connectivity never was?

Well we already have E3 footage of this functionality in 3rd party games. We even have one 3rd party developer claiming that all of his ps3 titles will contain this functionality. I hope that is sufficient for you to believe it is high enough quality. Or am I simply being delusional 
Remote play streamed far more than game content. It was nice not having to have a gigantic expensive memory stick when I was near wireless to have access to the movies and music on my PS3 from my PSP. There were plenty of reasons to use Remote Play even if only a few games took advantage. I'm sure you think that doesn't matter but the PS3 as well as PSP were marketed as being entertainment devices and not just videogame systems so I believe it is fair to count that content.
Things like PSV vs PS3 online play and third party demos show us that it is being taken advantage of.
