This is not good for Nintendo. If most of the features can be mimicked then they just lost 51 million possible consumers whom they are aiming at with the WiiU.

I have been saying for a while that the Wii U wasn't going to be sufficient to get PS360 owners to upgrade and this only cements that they aren't offering enough. This and their flawed position on online.

Considering the PS3 will probably have a price drop this year the PS3/V combo will be price competitive especially for the 51 million that already own a PS3.Were I Sony I would put the PS4 on hold unless M$ announces a new console.

This is possibly the most ignorant post I've read.

Call it what you chose. It's not my fault people are too blind to see that Nintendo is alienating both segments of the consumers they claim to be courting by catering to developers.

How are they alienating both segments?  The touch controller has the potential to be just as intuitive and user frendly as the Wii motion controls were.  One of the reasons touch-based smart phones took over is because they feature an intuitive, easy to understand interface.  If the Wii U has a killer game (hopefully included like Wii Sports) that shows off the simple interface capabilities of the system, the expanded market could easily be on board, particularly since it's 100% Wii motion capable as well.

As for the core gaming market, that's exactly why they're catering to developers.  I certainly don't believe the majority of PS360 owners will instantly switch over to Wii U, but many people who don't own an HD twin yet may see the Wii U as the one to get, and 5 year owners of a current console looking for something new might consider Wii U if the games are there and the price is right.

OT:  Hearing Naughty Dog's words are actually great praise to Nintendo.  If the Wii U were an absurd idea, companies wouldn't be boasting the fact that their own console can simulate the same actions.  Clearly they believe that Nintendo could be on to something again.
